I want to put this marinade on everything!! It perfectly tenderizes beef. The ribs are fatty so when grilled, the fat turns crispy and with the sweet and savory marinade, it’s just insanely good. The kids don’t like fatty meat so it was a bit on a challenge. But this would be equally good on a t-bone. definitely serve with some rice and kimchi.

- 2- 3 lbs short ribs , 1/4” thick
- 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
- 1-2 Asian pear, Bartlet pear or honey crisp apple, chopped.
- 1” piece of fresh ginger, skin removed and minced
- 6 cloves of fresh garlic, minced
- 1 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 TBSP mirin
- 2 TBSP sesame oil
- 2 TBSP sesame seeds
- 4 green onions, sliced
- Black pepper
Combine onion, pear/apple, ginger and garlic in food processor or blender. Blend until just forms slurry.
Add soy sauce, water, brown sugar and mirin and blend/pulse.
Move to a bowl and add green onions, sesame oil, sesame seeds and pepper.
Place ribs in ziploc or Tupperware with marinade. Seal tightly and marinade overnight.
Grill over high heat for 6-8 mins.
Serve with rice and kimchi!
